What Is A Crafting Circle?
And how does it work
Do you like to make things? To find creative ways to do things or find DIY solutions? Want to share some fun crafts with others?
A crafting circle is that inspiration that gives you a fresh kickstart to do or to make something new and fun that you enjoy— for yourself, and that you can share an enjoyment of with others if you so choose! Explore my collective of DIY activities and find fulfillment in being curious and creative.
Whether you try making jewelry in private, get together with a friend to make organic herbal smoothies, or share your DIY pics and comments of your art or craft online, you are opening to the flow of support, confidence, and inspiration for your creativity — and, on a good day, your enthusiasm or skill may bring a breath of fresh air to the circle of life for others who also like to engage this activity. Whether you consider yourself a novice or an adept, turn your creativity on — it’s time to explore more!
GETTING STARTED
• Choose something fun that you fancy here and want to try.
• Gather your materials — you can find what you need around the house, copy the suggested list to your phone and shop locally or online (eg. etsy), or post on various apps (eg. freecycle, craigslist-free) to find and use free community resources. Remember to shop for any food, items, or materials needed beforehand so you’ll be ready on the day.
• Set up your craft space (see examples below) or kitchen and clear the energy. Then dive in by following the steps provided.
“The more you open to new things while honoring your own path, the more abundance and fulfillment you’ll find within yourself and the more life will mirror that back to you.” —Rebecca
GET TOGETHER Get a small group of friends over for a party that includes your craft of choice— special dates are suggested, such as Solstices and Equinoxes, Pagan inspired seasonal celebrations, and Moon Cycles.
SHARE THE LOVE Take pics or record your process and share your creations! You may be inspired to share media of your handiwork or comment on your experience in a social forum. Others benefit not just from seeing what you make, but also by hearing what you learn, feeling what you felt, and they may feel motivated to try a new experience for themselves.
BE KIND Remember to set positive intentions about your new adventure — be kind to yourself and make it a point to embrace the beauty of what happens in the process as much as in the result. Engaging any creative activity means you learn by evolving your style.
“There’s nothing interesting about being perfect ~ what is genuinely valuable is whatever your distinct uniqueness reveals about you.” —Emma Watson
Creating Your Crafting Space
choose Your craft. gather YOUR MATERIALS. SET UP YOUR SPACE. WORK Your Magic.
The ambiance and ‘feel’ of your creative workspace can have a powerful effect on your creativity. A clean space is going to invite fresher inspiration. You may also find a smoother process when you clear the energy of the room, as well as your aura such as centering your mind and heart before you begin.
Try placing crystals around the room, playing ambient music to shift the vibe, open windows or use a fan to invite fresh air and circulation, burn sage/palo santo wood or sprinkle water with essential oils, or even dance in a circle to help stale energy refresh through motion.
You can also try setting intentions from a mindful state full of gratitude and playfulness as you begin. Approaching your creativity with openness and inquiry can help you access your natural flow more easily. And doing so comes more naturally in a space in which you feel comfortable and able to relax. Remember, creation is a dance — flow with it. And just like a river, energy flows best when the channel is clear.
So again, whether you’re on a budget or rivaling Martha Stewart in your creative commitments, you’re going to get a lot more out of your crafts when you first set up a clean space to do your stuff. It doesn’t have to be large, as long as it makes you feel inspired.
For smaller endeavors, simply having a table with room to play is enough. Your materials can be spread out for easy access and you can safely zoom from your computer if needed. Make sure your chair is supportive if sitting for long periods.
Fresh flowers or radiant gold ceiling lights optional, lol.
If you enjoy creating on a regular basis, you’ll be asking yourself how to organize things for your unique needs and a best use of space — especially as you begin to acquire more materials for your specific craft(s).
Dedicating a special room for your creative flow is an ideal option. And bonus, you get to create art and beauty for the room as well as in the room!
Have fun choosing baskets, drawers, shelves, and other ways to keep supplies close at hand while maintaining a clear workspace.
clear workspace = clear mind. sacred space for inviting fresh Creative Flow.
Celebrating Spirit within. Honoring the New Earth and each other. Embracing empowerment. Bringing balance. Playing. Having Fun.
